Marion Earns Class 1A State Championship Over Linden
Written by Kendall J. DavisTuscaloosa, AL – What shocker as #1 Linden (13-3) was dropped by #8 Marion County (15-1) this afternoon in the AHSAA Class 1A State Championship. Marion County grabbed a late third quarter touchdown to earn their fourth State Championship in school history.
Handley Gets First AHSAA State Championship In 3A
Written by Kendall J. DavisTuscaloosa, AL – The AHSAA Super 6 State Football Championships are in full swing. The first game of day one was in Class 3A between Madison and Handley. What a game it was as Handley won its first ever State Championship.
Tuscaloosa Hosts AHSAA State Football Championships Dec. 1-2
Six new state football champions will be crowned at the AHSAA Super 6 state football championships Dec. 1-2 at the University of Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium. No defending champion made it through from the original playoff field of 192. Hoover, which won the state 6A title in 2009 and was runner-up in 2010, is the only team from last year’s 12-team field returning to the finals. The Bucs (13-1) take on Prattville (11-2), a rematch of the 2009 title game, in the 6A finals Friday night at 7 p.m. It will be Hoover’s 10th Super 6 appearance in the last 11 years and Prattville’s sixth since 2004.
AHSAA Schools Reclassified For 2012-14
Written by Kendall J. DavisThe AHSAA has announced the new school alignment for 2012-2014. The announcement was approved by the Central Board of Control during its fall meeting last Wednesday. The alignment process takes place every two years in order to take in consideration the enrollment, either up or down, of member schools. The alignment takes into account school closing, consolidations, and closing of the member schools. All alignments are created for all sports in each class and are based on all member schools participating in the sports. New full Football and Basketball alignments are below.
